Questions related to smoking inside Carjee vehicles

As per the government rules enforced by the RTO (the Department of Motor Vehicles), smoking is not permitted inside our vehicles.

Why does Car Rental Mumbai enforce a non-smoking policy?

Next to the fact that it's banned by law, cigarette smoke leaves an irritating odor that may last for days. The purpose of the change in the fleet policy is to ensure that all of our customers' comfort is taken into account.

What happens if I break the non-smoking policy?

In most cases, you will only receive a warning from the driver. However, should you insist on breaking the policy, you will be charged with the cleaning of the vehicle. It could be that we will not charge you until we are done with cleaning the vehicle, so that we can have a thorough assessment of the costs.

How can I make sure I won't be charged a cleaning fee?

The easiest way to make sure you won't be charged anything extra is not to smoke inside the car. You should always inspect the car for signs of previous smoking and inform our agents and/or the driver about your concerns.

Miscellaneous questions

Should I bring a child seat with me, or will you furnish one for me?

The decision is yours. India has no regulations that require children under a certain age to be secured in a child seat. Due to the low demand, our company has only a limited number of child seats and we supply our customers with them on a first-come-first-served basis. Should you wish to bring your own, we will help you install it at no extra charge. However, if you want to use one of yours, you should book one in advance to ensure availability.

Even though we will assist you with installing the child seat, you are responsible for checking if it has been properly fitted. Our company will not be held liable for any accidents arising from a misfitted child seat.

Who will be held liable if one of my guests in the car breaks something?

You are solely accountable for all damages caused by your guests, whether they are voluntary or not. These include, but are not limited to, burns in the rugs or seats caused by smoking, tampering with the vehicle's controls or braking the glassware.

What kind of safety issues should I consider while in a Carjee vehicle & in Mumbai?

Safety on the road, particularly in a city that's far away from home, is always important. While the driver will take care of the road safety, here are some tips for you to keep in mind.

  • Don't sit in the Front passenger seat if you are the only passenger in the car. Always use the back seat - it's more comfortable and more secure.

  • The passenger who sits in the front seat has to wear a seatbelt at all times.

  • If you are leaving Mumbai, make sure you know the destination and your driver knows how to get there. If you have to ask for directions, ask a police officer or do it in a well-lighted public area. Don't drive through high-crime areas, even if it means going out of your way.

  • If you are threatened with a knife or a gun, give up on the car immediately and notify us and the police at PH - 100.

  • Keep the doors locked at all times, even when the car is running.

  • When getting out of the car, double check that the driver had locked the doors and windows. Your valuables should be kept locked in the glove compartment or in the trunk. If any thing is lost from the car Carjee is not Responsible.

  • If possible, avoid using ATMs at night.
